After a warm welcome, we’ll take the opportunity to review the exciting itinerary ahead, review and fit bikes. If time permits we invite you to embark on a leisurely 20-40 km loop ride through the neighbouring town of Petra, birthplace of friar Junipero Serra, a prominent character in California’s history. For the avid ones among us there’s even an optional climb to the Bonany Hermitage offering panoramic views to get your bearings .It’s the perfect way to kickstart your Mallorcan escapade.
Sineu 2 Nights
Nestled at the heart of Mallorca Sineu bears the illustrious title of the island’s former capital exuding an undeniable charm that beckons exploration. Positioned strategically in the island’s center it serves as an ideal gateway to unravel the diverse inland treasures of Mallorca, and ideal riding starting point with constant quiet country roads and rolling terrain. From here, everything goes on a crescendo.
Today we journey towards the enchanting Southeast of Mallorca, where we get the chance to ride the iconic ascents to San Salvador or Cura Monasteries. These classic climbs treats riders to awe-inspiring vistas of the island’s sprawling landscape and the glistening East and South Coast below. Meandering through quaint villages such as Montuiri, Porreres, Sant Joan and Petra these scenic rides provide a glimpse into Mallorca’s timeless charm. On our way back from Porreres, we could pay a visti to our good friend Barbara who usually welcomes us at her family windmills by the vines, and a greta local picnic-style lunch. Great way to start our Mallorcan adventure.
PORT POLLENSA – 2 NIGHTS
Port Pollensa a charming coastal town holds the title of Mallorca’s favorite cycling hub and it’s easy to see why. Its prime location makes it a perfect starting point for tackling the iconic ride to Cap Formentor Lighthouse a must-do on the island’s cycling circuit. But it’s not just about the cycling—Port Pollensa boasts a diverse culinary scene offering a mix of Spanish and international cuisine to satisfy every palate. After a morning ride there are plenty of cozy spots where you can unwind with a “cafecito” and soak in the laid-back atmosphere.
Today we go North, all the way to the coastal town of Port Pollensa, your home for the next two nights. From Sineu you will ride thorugh the Binssalem wine country before optional short climb to Puig de Santa Magdalena will offer some panoramic views of the land, and sea, ahead. As you edge closer to the Tramtunana foothills the terrain gets hillier and you will be riding on a gorgeous valley all the way to Pollensa village where we always recommend a stop for a bite at the square, before you ride down to the coast.
Ride: 46 – 85 Km with 230 – 680m of climbing.
One of Mallorca’s iconic cycling routes and in the bucket list of many cyclists around the world. With amazing views of the Mediterranean Sea it’s a constant up and down twists and turns which take to the most Northerly point in Mallorca. An early start is recommended to avoid most of the traffic. After coming back from the Lighthouse we suggest you visit the charming old town of Pollença and have lunch there or in the cove Cala Sant Vicenç by the beach.
Ride: 40 – 65 Km with +1000m of climbing.
PORT SOLLER – 2 NIGHTS
Port de Soller it’s a natural harbour set in a gorgeous Valley in the heart of the Tramuntana mountains range with dramatic views of the mountains meeting the Med. The valley is famous for its tasty and juicy oranges and the Soller Red Prawns plus walking along the waterfront in the lovely harbour on a bright spring or fall evening it’s just idyllic.
It’s an epic ride along the Tramuntana including a detour to the world famous Sa Calobra a must-do for any cyclists coming to Mallorca and the main reason why Mallorca is so famous in the cycling world but that’s after the beautiful climb from Pollensa to Coll de Feminia and before the great 14 Km descent from the Monnaber Tunnel to Port de Soller. 85 Km with almost 2000m climbing so for the short routes we have shuttle options or you could even jump in the ferry in Sa Calobra.
It’s a great day to have rest day or at least a day off the saddle so we could plan a good hike along the coast to lovely Deia maybe plan a short 40 Km ride to go for winery visit for lunch and wine tasting or also plan a water activity like a boat day or kayaking along the coast.
PALMA DE MALLORCA – 1 NIGHT
The capital of the island and a cool and vibrant little city to finish the trip off. With the sea a short walk away, its narrow streets filled many bars and restaurants, art galleries, boutiques, and the wonderful Palma Cathedral, there’s plenty to wander around. Also a good idea to have next morning in town so you can pay a visit to the municipal markets and have some fresh seafood direct from the stalls, a Mills an d Honey favorite!
Today is the cherry on top of the cake and what we think is the best ride in Mallorca along the SW coast passing the stunning coastal villages of Deia, Banyalbufar, Estellencs, and Andratx all the way to Sant Elm for a bite. From here we pick you up, have a cold cañita and talk about your favorite rides, and drive you back to Palma for a last night in town, a great way to finish the trip and only a 15 minutes drive to the airport the following morning. RIDE: 70, 50, and 40 Km options.
